It’s a great idea to prepare in advance before bringing your new cat home; the new arrival will really appreciate it!

You will need a litter tray and cat litter, a scratching post, a warm, secure place for your cat to sleep, food and clean water. To make the welcome even warmer, perhaps plan to do this over a weekend so you can spend some time getting to know each other, and avoid loud visitors or noisy events at home until your cat is well settled. You may need to keep your cat inside for a couple of days to a couple of weeks depending on how confident your cat is of their new environment. For the first week or two, supervise your cat when it is outdoors to make sure it's comfortably adapting to its new surrounds.
